Gigih Enough to Grow
As a student, I need to learn and learn what my university gave. Honestly I’m third year student that still want to know what will I be after college? So, I didn’t decide yet. Yes that’s me 6 weeks ago before join GenerasiGIGIH. Six week ago I only knew what is backend and only make simple implementation of it in university and I don’t use ruby.
How about now? well I already start journey in GenerasiGIGIH as newbie that don’t know what is ruby. Last 3 Month I start it by self paced learning and online course for cakap and elearn by XLFL. Then when we start Intermediate phase, I expect that I will learn directly about backend only. Well unexpectedly, We start again from basic for 2 weeks. The purpose is to make our fundamental become stronger than before. In week 3 until 7 we learn step by step until we learn the theory of microservices.
The skills that I develop in 6 weeks are technical, soft skill, and english language. The process of GIGIH day by day make us better and better. In technical we can make MVC using ruby sinatra. Small size and easy to run. We learn how to make our code clean, how to test our code using rspec and many more. In Cakap, we learn more about the use of english as backend developer. Get to know computer and related topics about it. In soft skill class held by XLFL, we learn how to prepare our career to make sure we grow up and find how to make ourselves good enough.
The good habit that I get from GIGIH is GIGIH too. Yes, persistence is must if we want to grow step by step. When we already start something, important to know that persistence make you grow day by day. Persistence in time by never late to join class or collect task. Persistence to repeat the lesson when you don’t understand. And also Persistence to ask when you in virtual class about the part that kind a heavy for you.
For me no the learning process in GenerasiGIGIH already open new chance for me to take specific job as backend developer. Maybe ruby didn’t a must but the concept that they already gave to me can be fundamental for me to learn new and dig more into backend developer. So I think it should be more than 50% because high demand of backend developer.
I proud to myself because I already done the intermediate phase. It could be achievement for me because I can persistence. And I proud to be here because I find place to grow and know other student around Indonesia.
